I just realized that you can use virtual framebuffers and the Xinerama extension on the Xorg server to serve two sections of a larger display over the network. That was literally its intended use case (as I learned from an 1.5 hour YouTube video while case modding my Mac pro at 9pm sometime during the summer)
So, I start a machine that renders a ginormous display and then use virtual framebuffers to take snapshots of that display and use the XDCMP to view that on remote clients. Instant coolness points :)

Update: Xinerama can only unify two local outputs, as one monitor and for some reason Nvidia doesn't let you hardware render virtual outputs (heads), forcing slow software rendering
